Description
The Next Generation series from The Perth Mint depicts a mother and baby image of an iconic animal in Australian wildlife. The silver platypus coin is the fourth issue in this series. Sometimes referred to as the duck-bill, platypuses mainly reside in Eastern Australia. These semi-aquatic mammals primarily live near lakes, rivers and streams.
Made from two ounces of 99.99% pure silver, the reverse side features a design by Monique Reeves of a mother platypus swimming with her baby beneath the water's surface. On the obverse is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
